Friends of the Varmint Show
As time goes by, we come across certain artists / industry insiders who - aside from their musical brilliance / industry connections - go out of their way to help the Varmint Show. Be it an interview here, a message of support there. We really appreciate the time these super people give us. We call them the Friends of the Varmint Show - and here are just some of them;

1 Eliza Carthy
Folk Artist of the Year / Mercury Music Prize Nominee and all-round good egg. Had to postpone our interview but we WILL interview her. Really appreciate the communication from Eliza's team, esp. Dave Waugh (Wah? sorry Dave, which is it?). This is a team who, after we are forced to postpone actually follow up a week or so later to check everthing's OK?!
2 Clint Mansell
"Hi, I'm Clint Mansell, Hollywood soundtrack composer. You may remember me from 80's grebo no-marks Pop Will Eat Itself. When I'm in Somerset, there's nothing I enjoy more than listening to the Varmints with a pint of scrumpy or ten..."
3 Christine Collister
Isle of Man Singer / Songwriter. Q Magazine says "... one of the world's finest female singers ..."
Christine says: "Thanks for the message. You can play anything you like! Go for it ... wasn't sure when the prog is due out ... this Friday? I'll be in the UK rehearsing for a tour with Dave Kelly and the Travelling Gentlemen ... have a look on my web site for dates: If you can make a show let me know and I'll sort out a couple of comps for you. Good luck and thanks for the support!"

We say - a dazzling talent!
4 Walter Trout
Blues Rock guitar legend who, on a foggy night in November 2008, after a blisteriing set, and feeling below par, took the time to sit down after Midnight and chew the fat with the Varmints.

Walter's manager said of the interview "I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT - hows that for feedback?".

We say - What a Gent / What a Talent!

Catch you next time round Walter
5 Marillion
One of the UK's leading indie artists who offered the Varmints the opportunity to do an interview as early as 2005 - during our first RSL.

Three years on, we caught up with them at the Colston Hall in Bristol. Great interviewees / Great blokes.

And Lucy Jordache is in a league of her own.
6 Joe Bonamassa
Guitarist Magazine Blues Guitarist of the Year for the last 3 years on the trot.

Invited the Varmints to chew the fat at the Langham Hotel in London early 2009 - in the run up to his Sell-Out Royal Albert Hall gig.

Charm personified, down to earth - just an all round nice bloke (as well as being one of the finest guitarists on the planet).

His talents also extend to those he surrounds himself with;

- Rick Mellick, Carmine Rojas and Bogie Bowles - the former 2 who took time out to record additional material with Rob & Matt in Wolverhampton some months later.
- Kevin Shirley - Joe's producer extraordinaire who gave the Varmints access to a still-unseen documentary about the making of the album "The Ballad of John Henry"
- Sue Williams - Joe's stellar UK promoter (Frontier Promotions) who has been SO supportive of the Varmints over the last couple of years - we're not worthy (but try harder!)
